Allonby is a large shingle beach with sand exposed as the tide ebbs. The beach back slopes to an area of grassland. This beach is very sheltered so swells rarely arrive. A sewer overflow discharges into Allonby Bay towards the north of this beach and another discharges 10km to the south.
