Mablethorpe Town is a large sandy beach backed by a promenage and located in a small, seaside resort. Various roads in the area including one leading to the beach have the name of Tennyson due to regular visits by the poet Alfred Lord Tennyson in the 19th Century. A number of sewer overflows combine into one in George Street which discharges to the south of the main beach area.
