Located in the popular seaside resort of Margate, The Bay is a slightly sloping sandy beach with a harbour wall at the eastern end and a rock formation, exposed at low tide, to the west. The beach is backed by a promenade while a salt water pool sits below the high tide line. There are two sewer overflows discharging into the sea here; one is located directly on the beach and the other is set back slightly and enters and underground urban stream before reaching the sea.
